Idiots

With "Dancer in the Dark" Lars von Trier wrapped up the second trilogy, which he titled "A heart of Gold" after the fairy tale that he so loved as a child. Because of the story´s naive nature, the book was considered to be ridiculous according to his parents. "I read it like a million times," says Von Trier "even though my father hated it". The essence of the trilogy, "A Heart of Gold" is believing, committing relentlessly and making the ultimate sacrifice, no matter what the price may be. In this trilogy the leading roles are all played by females who make a huge sacrifice for the people they love. The leading roles are played by: "Breaking the Waves," featuring Emily Watson, "The Idiots", featuring Bodil Jřrgensen and "Dancer in the Dark" featuring Björk.
